About us

Sailing Team Germany

The aim is set: Making Germany world elite in the sports of sailing once more.
The German Sailing Association (DSV), leading German sailing clubs and important personalities in business and sports founded Sailing Team Germany in 2009.
The first national sailing team, the Audi Sailing Team Germany, comprises the country’s best sailors and supports its members in divers matters, including non-cash benefits and development funds. Oliver Schwall, former Tornado world champion, Arne Dost, former successful DSV sailor and Jochen Schümann, two times America’s Cup participant, conduct the initiative.


Organisation and Support

The initiative Sailing Team Germany and the resulting German national sailing team restructure the high-performance sailing sport, ensure better medialization and make it more easily accessible to the public. Promotion and development of young talent, improved logistics, technological optimization of material, improved training conditions, coverage of our sailors and the full integration of disabled sailing make up the keystones of the concept.


Academy

Sailing Team Germany and leading German sailing clubs have founded a high performance sailing sports training centre, the Sailing Team Germany Academy in Kiel Schilksee.
The Academy has been established to parlay training and individual support for the sailors, starting from the youngsters to national top teams. Athletes get optimal assistance to prepare for international championships, e.g. the Olympic Games, or International World Cups. Kiel City supports STG Academy as cooperation partner.
