Heiko Kröger finished fifth in the Worlds, Lasse Klötzing seventh. After the second qualification regatta, the World Championship of the Paralympic boat classes (7 – 15 January 2012) offshore from Port Charlotte in Florida (USA), Heiko Kröger took the lead in the German Paralympic qualifications ahead of Lasse Klötzing.

In the field of participants consisting of 22 boats, Heiko Kröger sailed among the top ten in nine of eleven races and became overall fifth. His rival Lasse Klötzing finished two places behind and had to surrender his leadership in the German qualification for the Paralympic Games to Kröger on account of this result. In one race the 22-year-old Klötzing even succeeded in winning race. At the beginning of May, it will be decided during the „15th Berlin Cup 2012“ on the Müggelsee, who will represent Germany in the Paralympic Games offshore from Weymouth. “Lasse and I didn´t give anything away, but we sailed a clean and fair series of races. We could have done better, but the path to Weymouth is still paved with an awful lot of work”, reported the 45-year-old Kröger after the last race.
In the three-man Sonar class, Jens Kroker, Robert Prem and Siegmund Mainka never really got into gear and finished the Worlds in tenth place from a total of twelve boats.
