Via Miami to the Olympics 2012
After the well-deserved sailing pause between the years, two teams of the Audi Sailing Team Germany (ASTG) will be starting in the second leg of the “ISAF Sailing World Cup” offshore from Miami (USA) from 22 to 28 January.
The coming six months will completely focus on the greatest and most important sporting event in the world: the Olympic Summer Games. All sailors are preparing themselves intensively for the Olympic Games in training camps and by participation in selective regattas. While many ASTG Olympic competitors are training in European seas, only the 470 men´s team and the Match Race women´s team of the ASTG are starting in the World Cup in Miami: Ferdinand Gerz & Patrick Follmann are starting in the 470 class and for the Match Race ladies, Silke Hahlbrock, Maren Hahlbrock & Kerstin Schult. The World Cup will be the last preparation for the final chance for the Match Race Team to secure the German ticket to the Olympic Games. The last qualification regatta for the Match Race team will be taking place from 1st to 5th February 2012, likewise offshore from Miami.
